"Roots and Stems", a Community Farmers' Market

Roots & Stems Community Farmers Market offers residents Maryland and Virginia produce from local farms, value added foods and an artisans/crafters marketplace. The market bridges a gap where there is no affordable or easily accessible farmer's market and also fulfills transportation barriers in southern Prince George's County, MD gaining greater access to farm produce for nearby residents. The market supports the Prince George's County Executive's "Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative" and with the M-NCPPC's Health and Wellness Initiative. The overarching goal is to encourage residents to adapt to healthier lifestyles by purchasing seasonal produce while supporting farmers/food producers. Outreach to citizens who use EBT (SNAP, WIC, Senior vouchers) will ensure residents are utilizing these tools.
